Hey Everyone!

The last full week of school is over. Things this week did not go quite as planned but in the end it all worked out and we had a lot of fun.

In science this week we worked on our environment projects. The project changed a little after we were unable to get the big boxes as planned. The students instead used large pieces of butcher paper. They designed a background on their "poster". They look amazing. They also attached all their information cards. They laid the posters flat and added their 3D items. Today a few classes stopped by and we shared our projects with them.

In reading this week we finsihed the Geronimo Stilton Books. We wrote about his adventures and all the hazards that he encoutered. The students drew some of the events too. On Tuesday and Wednesday we read a book called Buddy. This was a book about a boy with MD who had a dog that helpped him in doing his everyday tasks.

In Math we continued working on our fact tests. We also worked on multipling multiple didget numbers.

In computers this week we wrote thank you notes to teachers and staff at school. The students enjoyed writing letter to some of their favorite people on campus.

Students continued passing off songs in music class. They are doing well but many of them could be practicing more. They have a concert on Monday at 9:40 in the courtyard. This will be our last music class.

Our last PE class will be on Wednesday next week. Today was our last day of Art.

On Tuesday and Wednesday next week we will be celebrating the end of the year with 3rd grade Aloha Days. We will be making lots of fun crafts on Tuesday. Wednesday we have a bunch of really cool activities planned and we will have a pizza lunch as a grade level in the court yard.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. See you on Monday!

Wow! This was a busy week! We practiced and practiced and performed or class play! The kids did a wonderful job on the play, I am so proud of them. The Sidewinders game was a blast!

In reading continued reading some fun Geronimo Stilton adventures. Each environment group is reading about an adventure that takes place within the environment they are studying. The groups are having fun reading, writing, and drawing about the adventure that Geronimo is going on!

In math we are still learning about multiplication.

In science, we are continuing our environment study! We will be painting our project boards on Monday. I have one parent helper but could use 4 more... actually I am in desperate need of 4 more parents from 10 to 12. If you can help please email me, or call me... or just show up.

We will be putting the projects together on Tuesday and finish them on Wednesday. (The original plan was to work on them until Friday but I will be gone on Friday and Mrs. Mason will be teaching.) We will display the projects in our room on Friday morning for other classes to come see. I will post pictures of them on the blog next week.

Comment on the blog by Wednesday and choose out of the prize bucket!

Keep practicing those math facts!

Have a great weekend!
AND
See you all at the Spring Fling!!!!

We have had a very busy week.

We started the week off with more recorder song pass offs in music. Many of the students are doing well but they all need to practice more so they can earn all their belts by the end of the year. Also, they will have a recorder concert on May 19th at 1:30 so they need to be ready for that.

Wednesday was a great day. The symphony was so much fun. They played some of my favorite songs. They played a really happy song, a sad song (Jupiter from The Planets), a scary song, a heroic song (Star Wars), and a silly song (Mambo from West Side Story). The conductor taught the kids about dynamics, tempo, and orchestration. Our students were the best audience. They remembered not to clap until the conductors hands dropped to his side. Lunch was also a highlight. We walked over to the Hotel Arizona to eat. They served us hot dogs, macaroni nuggets, watermelon, AND ice cream sundaes with chocolate syrup and sprinkles. They gave us a great deal and were so nice to all the kids. Thank you to Gail, Valerie, Kevin, Chef Todd and all the servers for taking such great care of us.

In reading this week we read different books from the Geronimo Stilton Series. We will continue reading these books next week.

We spent a lot of time this week working on our play. Students practiced their fluency skills during the songs. They also practiced using lots of expression in their lines AND in their facial expressions and reactions to the other actors. Everyone is very excited to perform the play next week.

In science we continued working on our environments projects. Student researched more consumers, producers and decomposers. They looked for adaptations that these producers and consumers had to have in order to live in their environment. Our water experiment plants are growing well. It seems that the dry soil has no plants in it and the very wet plants are growing... very well.

Now time for extra credit... Students, post a comment to this blog answering one of the questions to the side and telling me what you voted for in the poll AND why and you will get a prize from the prize basket.

Have a wonderful weekend. I am looking forward to Wednesday and the baseball game.
