Letter Sent to Parents July 28th

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our third grade! My name is Carol Tracy. I am very excited and feel privileged to be your child’s teacher this year. The year will be filled with lots of learning and fun! My goal is to provide an environment where every child feels that they are free to take risks, be themselves, work hard, learn lots, smile, and go home at the end of the day loving to learn.

The first day of school is Thursday August 7th. The school day begins at 8:40am and ends at 3:15pm except on Tuesdays when school ends at 1:15pm. Students may arrive to school no earlier than 8:25am.

On Wednesday, August 6th from 11:00-12:00 I will have the classroom open if you and your child would like to find our classroom (room 114), drop off your child’s supplies, and meet me. I know how difficult it is on the first day to get everything here and it would be great to meet before school starts! This event is for our class only. If you have other students who attend Painted Sky please do not visit their classroom.

In 3rd grade your child will be using a variety of 21st century skills to learn through thematic units that meet the Arizona State Standards and are of high interest. On Wednesday, August 13th at 6pm there will be a 3rd grade parent orientation to inform you about what our class will be learning about, what class expectations are, and many other procedures and classroom policies.

In order to successfully meet the needs of every child I feel that it is imperative that we communicate on a regular basis. Our class blog is a great way to be updated on the day to day happenings of our class. Each day it will be updated with homework and information. At the end of each week a newsletter will be posted. More details on this will be given at the parent orientation. I consider myself a bit of a “computer geek” and electronic communication, such as email or the blog is the BEST way to correspond with me. If you drop me an email I will add you to our class distribution list.

There are so many things parents can do to help enhance the learning that takes place in and out of the classroom. If you are able to donate your time in the class, please email your available times as well as how often you would like to help out. I am hoping to make a schedule and have it ready by the second or third week of school!

I encourage you and your child to take a minute and go by our class website and blog. There are pictures of me, a short bio and a place where your child can tell me about themselves. I look forward to a wonderful year, and please feel free to contact me at any time!
