Dec 1 to 5

We should call this Writing Week!!!

Everyone worked so hard this week on our Civil War stories. On Monday we developed a character. Students decided what they would look like, sound like, and act like. Then on Tuesday we decided where our story was going to take place, the setting. We described how it would look, smell, sound and feel. Wednesday we spent a lot of time talking about what the word plot means. Students learned that every plot has 5 parts. ***What are the 5 parts of a plot?*** Hints-the beginning is the In___ , then the Ri___A___ leads to the exciting part, the exciting part is called the C____ then the F___A___ leads to the last part which is called the Re ____. On Thursday and Friday students wrote their stories. Next week we will be editing them. After their final copies are finished they get to publish the stories in the form of a book.

This is the last week of cursive homework. Students are bringing home the "tricky tails" packet today. There are only 4 letters in it. The packets are due on Friday December 12th.

On Wednesday students discovered how light travels. ***How does light travel?*** On Thursday we learned that we can use a mirror to make light travel differently. ***What is it called when light hits a mirror and then the wall?*** Today we learned that light can pass through some objects. Light passes through an object clearly, cloudy or not at all. *** What words means light passes through clearly? What word means light passes through cloudy? What word means light does not pass through at all? ***

Many students have brought in toys for the toy sale on Friday. You can still bring in toys up until Thursday the 11th. We will be pricing the toys during math on Thursday. THEN on Friday we get to buy things from the sale at 10:30. You can bring in some money. At 11:00 we will work as sales people at the sale. Remember, all the money that is made at the toy sale will be donated to Adopt a Family. Any toys that are not sold will be donated to Goodwill.

If you are a parent and would like to help out between 10:30 and 12:00 please email me. THANK YOU!!
